About BankGrade

BankGrade is an independent reference site that turns the FDIC's public bank call-report data into a plain-English read on the financial health of the largest US banks. US bank financial-health data, graded from public FDIC call reports.

What we do

For each of the 118 largest US banks we publish the headline health metrics from the FDIC BankFind Suite (Q1 2026 (call report dated March 31, 2026) call report): capital ratio, risk-based capital ratio, nonperforming-asset ratio, return on assets, a transparent Texas Ratio and an A–F grade. Every figure is sourced and dated, and every formula is published on our methodology page.

What we are not

We are not a credit-rating agency, a bank, or a financial adviser. Our grade is a transparent computation over public FDIC data — it is not a rating, a recommendation, or a statement about any bank's solvency. FDIC insurance, not any metric on this site, is what protects your deposits (up to $250,000 per depositor, per bank, per ownership category). Please read our disclaimer.

How we work

Pages are generated from a committed snapshot of FDIC data and standard, published formulas. We do not invent numbers: if a bank is missing a core field, we omit it rather than guess. See the methodology for sources, fields and known limitations.
